Woman Says Her Friend Asked To Split a Gift — Then Put Only Her Name on the Card
A Reddit user shared that she agreed to go in on a group gift with a friend, expecting it to be a simple shared gesture. In the post, she said the plan was to split the cost evenly and give the gift together, which sounded easy enough at the time.
According to her post, she sent her share of the money without thinking much about it. She assumed both of their names would be included when the gift was given, since that was the whole point of splitting it. There wasn’t much discussion beyond that, and she didn’t feel like she needed to double-check.
That changed when the gift was actually given. She said she later found out that only her friend’s name was on the card. In the post, she explained that she hadn’t been mentioned at all, even though she had paid for half of it. The way she found out made it feel worse, because it wasn’t something her friend told her directly.
She wrote that she brought it up afterward, expecting there might be some kind of explanation or acknowledgment. Instead, she said the response didn’t really address the issue, and it felt like her contribution had been brushed off.
