Woman says her husband got jealous over the woman he once led on — and it all happened at their own wedding

A woman on Reddit said her wedding reception took a turn she still could not shake after she noticed her new husband acting strangely around one of his longtime female friends. In a post later collected by r/BestofRedditorUpdates, she wrote that her husband had previously admitted he “leaned in” to this friend’s crush on him for years because he liked the attention, even though he knew it was unfair to her. The friend, Misha, was invited to the wedding and brought her long-term boyfriend as her plus-one.

According to the post, the bride said the first red flag came before the ceremony, when her husband seemed oddly resistant to Misha bringing her boyfriend at all. Then, once the reception started, she noticed him glaring at the couple, acting cold toward Misha, and being openly rude to the boyfriend when they were introduced. She wrote that matters got worse when his mother commented that she was glad Misha had found a great guy, prompting the groom to snap that at least Misha would not stay “desperate and hung up” on him forever. The bride said the remark felt cruel and made him sound bitter rather than happily married.

That reaction pushed her to wonder whether the problem was not Misha at all, but the fact that Misha had clearly moved on. In the post, she described Misha as kind, respectful of boundaries, and now in a serious relationship with a man who came across as handsome, successful, and well-liked. The bride said she could not shake the feeling that her husband was reacting badly because the woman whose attention he once enjoyed no longer seemed interested in him.

Then the story moved from ugly to marriage-ending. In a short follow-up, the woman said people urged her to check her husband’s phone, and when she did, she found messages he had sent Misha the morning after the wedding. In those messages, she wrote, he told Misha she looked beautiful, said he had missed her, complained that her boyfriend’s presence ruined his chance to “catch up” with her, and pushed to meet up. That discovery led her to say, bluntly, that the marriage was over.

The comments on the roundup were brutal toward the husband, with many readers treating his wedding-day behavior and the next-morning messages as proof that he was still chasing validation from the same woman he had once led on. One commenter summed up the reaction by saying an emotional affair is still an affair, while others argued the high-school story should have been seen as an early warning about his character in the first place.
